A routine request to be added to the distribution for the weekly COVID analytic synch VTCs, and the reply granting it. Its value is structural rather than substantive: it maps the standing coordination machinery around COVID analysis.
The reply adds the requester to the list, flags a VTC the following morning from 10:00 to 11:30, and offers to have them added to the wider CIA COVID email slug for broader situational awareness.
Lists the alternate points of contact at the NIC — a NIC COVID alias and the NIO for WMD & Proliferation — and sets out the NIO-WMD team’s alternating BLUE/GOLD schedule in force since early July.
The enclosed 11 September readout (item 39) records that the COVID VTC discussed IC efforts to understand vaccine progress, with most agencies reporting a steady-state workload.
That readout also asks participants for feedback on whether the VTCs should remain weekly, become fortnightly, or stop altogether, and notes recurring questions about cyber and counterintelligence concerns, foreign capabilities, who is in the lead, and prospects for challenge trials.
The VTC gateway list names the participating sites: NCMI, CIA, NGA NCE, FBI CLK, CDC Atlanta, DHS HQ, NSAW, ONI, ROWE and LLNL-NAI.
The invitation also flags a free MIT course on COVID-19 open to the public, whose guest speakers included Anthony Fauci, David Baltimore, Eric Lander and Kizzmekia Corbett.
