A working draft of the weekly accomplishments report supporting the President’s 90-day COVID review. Tracked changes are visible throughout — including the substitution of "review" for "surge" in the opening line — along with struck-through and newly inserted paragraphs, giving an unusual view of how the summary was edited before circulation.
Fri 9 Jul — HPSCI CDA: NCPC, with the NIC, developing a response for inclusion in an OLA congressional document (ODNI-2021-00995) identifying which foreign and liaison partners have been most helpful during the origins surge.
Mon 12 Jul — Biological Science Expert Group meeting on origins. An inserted passage records that the BSEG reviewed papers on the correlation between Chinese hazard levels and biosafety levels, discussed protocols at WIV in the laboratory and during animal sample collection, and supplied original Chinese biosafety protocols and first-hand accounts. Second of three IC engagements with the BSEG during the 90-day study.
Tue 13 Jul — IC discussion with HHS/NIH. A struck passage recording that HHS reiterated support and welcomed a follow-up meeting is replaced with a note that NIH committed to providing the grant application and progress reports for WIV coronavirus research to the IC.
Also inserted: the NIH National Library of Medicine confirmed that, as described in the Bloom paper, rescinding sequence information is not usually done in that manner; NIH is conducting an internal review and committed to share historical server data.
Tue 13 Jul — Re-issue of the CEM with expanded releasability to Finland and Sweden, at the request of Helsinki and Stockholm Stations.
Upcoming, Fri 23 Jul — The NIC planned an in-person Key Stakeholders meeting to gather agency positions ahead of drafting the 90-day COVID Origins Tasking Assessment, limited to one or two people per agency.
