The Deuterocanon
The fifteen books the King James translators printed between the Testaments: scripture in the Catholic and Orthodox canons, set apart in the Protestant one. Four of them — First and Second Esdras, the Prayer of Manasses and the Epistle of Jeremiah — stand in neither Bible edition held here, so this is the only place on the shelf they can be read.
The Deuterocanon runs to 15 books, 5,705 verses. The whole of it is held here and free to read, searchable by reference or by the words in it.
The edition held here is King James Apocrypha (1611), in English, in the public domain, from Project Gutenberg.
It sits on the estate's shelf of 106 sacred works, beside the complete Douay-Rheims Bible, an atlas of the places named in scripture, a timeline and a genealogy.
