The Epic of Gilgamesh
The Akkadian epic of Gilgamesh and Enkidu, and of the search for life without end. Parts remain lost.
The Epic of Gilgamesh runs to 12 tablets, 211 lines. The whole of it is held here and free to read, searchable by reference or by the words in it.
The edition held here is Langdon, in English, in the public domain, from Wikisource.
It sits on the estate's shelf of 106 sacred works, beside the complete Douay-Rheims Bible, an atlas of the places named in scripture, a timeline and a genealogy.
